6 weeks after Breast Augmentation. Super Happy!

6 weeks after Breast Augmentation. Super Happy !

Myself: 42 years old, 126 pounds, 5'6" high.

Exercise: Yes. Yoga, High Impact Aerobics.

Results: Full C, Natural. 36C Bra (i was a 34A before, i had firm, not saggy breast). I received compliments about how natural my breast look, proportioned and aesthetic.

Surgeon: I research a lot before the surgery.

My pick: one on the Best Surgeons in the area with 25 years of experience, recommended by a friend, and especialized in Breasts. Also, Doctor's web site provides pictures of his work, wonderful, natural look. Check at least 2 doctors about your Breast Augmentation is recomended.

Implants: I choose Saline Implants (Mentor Round Smooth Moderate Profile).

Doctor's choice: 350cc implants filled up to 380cc. I got the option to choose between Saline or Memory Gel Implants. My Surgeon just said Silicone Implants are just more natural. Not a lot of explanation about what is the best choice, he just said both are good and is just about what the customer wants... I pick saline because my Surgeon results with other patients using saline implants are very natural too, and saline filled implants may help the Surgeon to adjust the size at the moment of the Surgery. Also, in a chance of rupture (rare and just 1%) saline solution is absorbed by the body, and i do not need any MRI. (MRI are needed to check Silicone Implants Rupture).

My Husband: Very Supportive, help me a lot through recovery together with my mother (lot of help is needed for the recovery period after the procedure). My husband is extremely happy with the results, he loved it. No problem with the "fake" factor. It was my own decision to go through this. I never have had a problem with my look before, always happy, but this year i just got interested in some improve of my appearance, and then:  decision made.

PRE-OP: A LOT OF ANXIETY, and expectations. Very Nervous.

SURGERY DAY: Anxiety, a lot of anxiety, very nervous. But Surgery Procedure itself was very easy and fast. Surgery time: 1:45pm, i was back at home at 4pm. I got Sedation with local anesthesy. I didn't  sleep AT ALL the day of the Surgery, not even at night. I was very uncomfortable, sore, and very excited.

THE NEXT DAY: THE WORST.

POST OP: Very Stressful, extremely painful, more than expected. Just excrutiating. My back and shoulder muscles extremely in pain, and this muscle struggle last for aproximately 12 days after surgery. Not exagerating. I was very uncomfortable about this and stressed out. I have to take the pain medicine (vicodin) every 4 hours as prescribed. I got the whole prescription, and even so, i got moments of excruxianting very stressful pain. I took the pain medication with plain rice and plain Yogurt to avoid nausea, and it works perfect, no problem at all with the pills (just very bad constipation and swelling of my belly for 7 days).

4th Day after surgery: 1rs visit to Docto's office after surgery. Everthing was fine. Doctor's move the implants and it was not so painful as i've been told. A lot of swelling, shiny skin. Normal symptoms.

7th Day after surgery: Covers are removed. I was finaly able to get a shower. It was the first time i saw my breast. Even they were very swelling, they look BEAUTIFUL. I was happy, my mother and husband too, very impressed. To see the results gave me the strengh to hold on the pain. I was still feeling bad. The worst days are really the first 3 days, but i was still in so much pain and discomfort, sore, and the muscle pain was the worst part of the recovery process.

10th day: Stitches removed. I was very impressed about the incision scars on my nipples. Barely noticeable, even they were so recently.

12th day: Breast massages beginning. Everybody told me that the massages will be painful. Not at all. Massages are very helpful. I was told to do the minimun 3 times a day, but the more, the better. I did 7 times a day, everyday, because it doesnt' hurt me at all. I finally started to feel better.

3 weeks after surgery: I didn't posted my testimony at this time, because i wanted to wait when i really feel almost commpletely recovered. After 3 weeks i felt less stress on my back muscles, better range of movement, more normal, more me. My breast look and feel more like a part of me than something hard on top of my chest. Very happy and motivated.

6 weeks after surgery: Today. What can i tell you? I don't regret at all the whole recovery process. It was a process. Breast Augmentation is a surgery, (not simple for me, very painful, but is not the same for everybody, it depends of every individual body reaction)   and you have to be careful managing yourself, and very uncomfortable for not being able to do a lot of normal stuff you do, but everyday after the 3rd week, you feel fast improvement. getting better and better and you will feel wonderful. I look very natural on my clothes. I am a size Small, and my clothes still fit perfectly. I just loose my old bras and bikini tops, not my clothes. Everything i wear look so great now. I can not wait to go back to the Gym.

Gym outfits and bikini tops: GORGEOUS. Everything looks so femenine. Definetely worth it ! I don't want to regret asking to myself why i didn't get this done before, because i just got my Breast Augmentation when i really want to do it, and even so, is not only a phisycal procedure with phisycal changes, also psicologicaly, you have to be ready to go through this, because is a very positive change, but is an elective change of your body.

I understand that Mentor is a leader on breast implants.

I am really happy about the results !

Antoinette, I appreciate your update. I am now as of today 2 weeks postop. My breasts feel very sensitive to anything that touches them, such as clothing. Did you experience this? I think it's normal. It almost feels like clothes touching a sunburn.

Dear Antoinette,
I am a forty something mother of two and am just one and a half weeks post surgery. Luckily for me the pain wasn't nearly as bad as what you experienced; the worst part was waking up from surgery and the 45 minute ride home (bring lots of pillows for the ride home!). I was a AA cup all my life and breast fed my kids over a year each, so my poor breasts were looking very sad. I was waiting for the silicone implants to get FDA approval because I prefer the more natural feel they are supposed to have over saline. I wanted only a full B, but my surgeon said I should go small C, it would be more proportionate. I am a small girl,5'3" and 116 lbs, but I thought he would know better, and everyone says to "go big". So 350cc size implants later, and I feel they are huge! People tell me that they still could be swollen, but about two weeks in and they still look the same to me. I have been massaging as often as possible and they seem slightly softer and not so high on my collarbone, but I really want them to shrink even more. Did your breasts decrease in size significantly over the weeks? I can't tell if they are swollen or not!
They do still feel kind of foreign to me, like these things on my chest I'm wearing. They are really high and look like "Barbie doll breasts". I,m worried they will not change!
Please tell me if you experienced this and if they are soft and natural to you.
Thanks!
Maggie

# ONE DAY AFTER FEEL EXCITED! 5/14/2008 7:03 AM Meggie

I am the day after my surgery. I was a 35 A and went with 225 cc to become a modest B cup. Very excited and on pain meds. I feel fine today and can't wait to see what they look like and start massaging them. I am 24, 5'9" and 135 lbs. Thank you for your mentoring!

This is my 3rd.week after BA, went for 340cc high profile silicone impl., my experience with the pain was-2 days with the painkilers, after just discomfort, pain quite bearable . But from yesterday kind of pain in one breast is starting to worrie me, because we expect things to get better, dont we? I also dont massage my breasts, my surgeon said I can, but it doesnt help with improovment of the look./one breast with no pain looks just artifical and higher then other due to less muscle parently.../Anyway, we can be critical, my husband says they look perfect; But what about that starting bigger discomfort, sensitive on touch like a bruise, anybodys experience? thanks for hints. Helie

I am 11 days post op and have moderate profile, 400 cc....started to do my massages and they are pretty uncomfortable esp the right breast.
BUT i am conviced that the more I massge the better as it will make them softer and more natural...Mine are really nice but I believe still a bit high. As far as I undertsand it can take a full 3 months for them to settle down...lets hope...Still have to take tylenol especially at like 3 in the morning when I wake up sooooo achy, I am assuming it is from the steady weight on bruises??? Who knows...
Unfortunately my husband and I had a date this weekend as my mom had all 3 boys and we had a few too many and ended up dancing..I hope I was careful enough...no damge that I see or feel I think...
When can I go tanning????anyone know?

I'm almost 3 weeks post op, subglandular, 320cc from a 34 A to a 34 C, saline high profile. I'm 60, also had a neck and lower face lift on the same day. Absolutely no pain post op except for excruciating back and neck pain while trying to sleep propped up in bed or in a recliner for 2 nights. That was the worst! Took no pain meds, not even Tylenol. Breats are still slightly tender, massage them several times each day. They look fabulous. Another problem: the post op bra I was told to order was too tight and made wrinkles on my breasts and cause some brusing below the breasts and a huge dark bruise on one side that's now gone. I switched rigth waay to Victoria's Secret with no underwire which was more comfortable but I'm really most comfortable in either a small jog bra or nothing at all. I was luckly enough to have great breast tissue that was exactly the shape of the implant and even subglandular do not hae to wear a bra. Still have seristrips over the submammary incisions but otherwise you can't tell I have implants. They felt like me from the very first day, no feeling of heaviness. I'm really happy and surprised at the lack of pain. I chose submammary because I wanted that look and lessened pain and recovery.

I had my breasts redone just over a week ago after having a capsular contraction on the right breast. I was in extreme pain for a couple of days, but am feleing great now! I'm wearing both a padded bra and a velcro thingy to hold them down!

The worst part for me was the drains - emptying them out when all I wanted to do was vomit, was terrible. Thankfully those came out on Sunday.

I really hope massaging them a lot will prevent capsular contraction from happening again...

5 days after breast augmentation and shocked!!

i have never had any kind of surgery and was very nervous and have heard many horror stories of the pain and the effects of the pain medication after, but this is something i have wanted for 7 yrs so i took a chance!!

i was a 34b 5'3'' 122lbs. &
went to a 34D between 425-450 cc's silicone gel, under the muscle, with dissolvable stiches.

i decided to go with silicone opposed to saline because of the more natural look and feel. (ex. no matter how much tissue u have wen u hug sum1 with saline u will feel the implants), silicone will smoosh just like breast tissue, also the fact the silicone implant is the #1 tested medical devise in history left me very secure in my decision.

i was told by other woman with both saline n silicone implants i would wake up n feel like i couldnt breathe like i have bricks on my chest n be in a lot of pain about a 7-9 on a 1-10 scale.

my doctor is Shane Cuber in Marlboro NJ and my result upon waking up from surgery was as shocking as my girlfriend who had gone to him a year earlier, i was in so little pain i was helping the nurse dress myself!!

my biggest problem despite all the medicine was sleeping!! but my pain reached a max of 3 on a scale of 1-10 and i took hardly any of my vicodin because it makes me feel nausaus. i was doing everything by myself and the only thing i had any trouble with the first day was sitting up. and as some say they do allright because of a high pain tolerance, i am def. not one of those people!! lol i am a big baby.

i feel the time and dedication your surgeon puts into your surgery plays a major role in your recovery and pain. it's a little too much of a coincidence me and my girlfriend were both up and out the next couple days esp. when we are both built very diff. and she got saline instead of silicone.

if you live in NJ go to Dr. CUBER In Marlboro, the consult is free too!! and good luck to everyone!! all ques. welcome!!

I am 8 days post op. I am going back to work tomorrow. I am a salon owner and stylist. When do the breasts start to soften up. Also, what did you do for back pain and no sleep. My back and neck are killing me from sleeping upright. I am a side sleeper and just can't do it yet. Tonight I am going to try a tylenol PM. Any suggestions?

I had a breast enlargment 2 days ago. I had IMPLANTS UNDER THE MUSCLE. They're SO painful today. It's suppose to be normal thought because under the muscle is a very painful procedure. I was an A cup and I think I'm about a C now although I'm wearing a D sportsbra. I had a quick look yesterday before I had my sports bra put on and they look fab, I'm really happy! I'm having the bandages removed in a weeks time and I don't have to worry about having sitches out because I've had dissolveable ones. I did have to have drains for my operation and I'm so squeemish so it was a huge deal to me when I had to have them pulled out the morning after surgery. It was a little painful but I was given Oxygen which helped. Ooh also, I had so many drugs after the op that I found I couldn't go to the toilet for ages, my bladder just wouldn't work! That went after a day though and then I couldn't stop peeing aha!
I'm on paracetemol, codine and neurophen at the moment which help alot but once they wear off the pain is unbareable. I was even wishing I hadn't had it done last night! I love my new shape though so i can't wait to get through the next couple of days, hopefully the pain will be alot better then! x

4 days after surgery 10/14/2008 3:18 PM Emma Boucher

I am on day #4, and I am still getting some spasming.

I started with a BARELY-34A(had pockets of empty space in my push-up bra), I had 371cc, Memory Gel implants. I wanted a full C. I think they will be great.

I am athletic and I guess it is because I have slightly thicker muscle...MOST LIKELY-it is because I did not always do adequate stretching.
The night of the surgery and day after were the most terrible days I have ever had. The bandages hurt my back, the elastic hurts my new breasts. I took a shower the next day-although my arm pits have been neglected-the shower was short and painful. I can, today, get my arms above my head, carry my own cups of water.

OMGoodness the Opioids and anesthesia, talk about being bound up. I had this done on friday at 3pm, and had my first BM, second and third this morning-it is tuesday. I am still full. I joked with my family that I had a 6 month pregnancy, that is now down to 3 months.

Is it normal that they are not dropping at the same rate?

4 days after Breast Augmentation! 11/22/2008 10:00 PM Meggan

I'm still in pain, but today is better than any other! I can actually sit up by myself! One breast is sitting just a bit lower than the other. Is this normal? I don't start my massaging for a few more days. Will that help?

I am 5 days post-op today after my BA with 500cc Saline implants filled to 550cc's. I am 5'3'' and 125 lbs. I started with a 34B and excpect to be a D-cup.
I am happy to read that I am not the only one who was surprised by the pain after surgery. When you are told that you will be good enough to return to work in only a week to 10 days time, I think it gave me the idea that it wouldn't be so bad. I have been using icepacks on my breasts since the day of my surgery and was shown the massage excercises today at my post-op visit that I have been instructed to do at least 10 times a day (they only take a couple minutes) for the next few months. I used all of my pain meds in the first 4 days and although I am cutting down, I did recieve a re-fill today.....

In answer to a couple of the questions above, I have been told to stop tanning for at least a month.
And I don't think that your breasts will get any bigger after surgery, if anything they will get smaller.
My Surgeon was very honest and thorough and explained to me how few women ever complain that they went too big and that 99% of the complains are women who wish they went bigger. I was trying to decide between 450cc and 500cc and having heard that, decided on the larger..... it was good advise! I think my breast will look great once everything is settled and healed :-)
