After giving birth and nursing 2 wonderful children (7 and 4 yrs old now) I decided I fainlyl wanted to do something to improve my self image. My right breast was a medium B andleft was a large A. My husband has told me over and over again that he didn't think I needed a
breast augmentation but supported me from the start. After my initial consultation I knew that I definitely wanted to go through with it and my husband was more excited, too. We must have
looked at a million before and after pictures here on
Loveyourlook.com and many other websites. I decided I wanted to be a Full C or Small D and went ahead to schedule my pre-op, surgery and post-op. My pre-op was October 25. We met with my doctor and decided on which implants to use to achieve my goals and even out the size of my breasts as much as possible. My nurse reviewed everything to do before my surgery - like not eating or drinking after midnight, washing with the antmicrobal soap, etc. She also gave me my prescriptions for my anti-biotics and pain medications to have filled before my surery. Well, my BA was Friday, November 9th. Everything went well and now that I'm feeling up to sitting here typing I thought I would share my story. I showed up at my PS office at 11:00 as I was told since my surgery was scheduled at noon. Unfortunately, the patient that was scheduled before me was 30 minutes last so things were a little behind schedule. One of the nurses went ahead and gave me the pregnancy test and then my husband and I watched tv in the guest room for a while. At about 11:40 the nurse came back out and took me back to the room where she had me change. I got the cute stockings and blue footies and a gown. Once I was all set the nurse came back in and go my IV set up. Which was honestly the best IV experience I have ever had. She hooked me up to some saline for a few minutes and then started my antibiotics. Then they let my husband come back and stay with me until it was time for surgery. It seemed like were waiting forever! Dr. Zwiren came in at about 12:30 and made the markings for surgery and asked if I had any questions. We then went over size again and decided to go a little bigger than what we had discussed at my pre-op appointment. I told him I had been doing some reading of other BA patient's experiences and that I wanted to go a little bigger to ensure I'd be happy. He said "Absolutely, I definitely support that decision". He then left the room and about 10 minutes later the anesthesiologist, Dr. Dunn, came in. He just went over my file and asked if I had any questions. I jsut asked a couple quick questions in comparison the the treatment I had when my wisdom teeth were removed and he told me it was a little different but not to be worried. I wasn't worried At about 12:55 the operating nurse came and got me and walked me into the surgery room. I then laid down on the operating bed and the anesthesiologist told me he was just going to give me a little shot in my IV to help me relax while they hooked me up to all the monitors and such. I remember saying "OK" and then the nurse telling me she was going to put something warm on my feet and feeling them squeeze a little then deflate and that is the last thing I remember! I woke up in my recovery room just before 3:00 pm. I was babbling on and on telling the nurse that I wanted to be on the show "Don't Forget the Lyrics"! I honestly have NO idea where that came from! I went on and on about how I thought I'd be good because I loved music and blah blah blah. We were both laughing so much. Once I stopped talking I said "It feels like theres a boulder on my chest!" She assured me that was normal and I remembered reading about the elephant on the forums here. She asked me if I wanted to anything to eat or drink and I asked for water. She also gave me some saltines and continued to monitor my vitals and once I came back to Earth more I was moved into the 2nd phase recovery room. The nurse went and got my husband and then gave me a shot in my IV before she removed it of Todol (sp?). Then she took out the IV and asked if I wanted a pain pill for the ride home. I said yes and she asked me how many. I only took one because I really wasn't in any pain. My chest felt very tight and swollen. I then got dressed and off we went! The ride home was alright. I was wide awake and very alert which surprised me. Still not pain though, just really tight in the chest. My breasts actually feel fine, its mostly the chest about that is so swollen and tight then and now. Last night I felt really good and only took a couple percocets as the night went on so I could be comfortable. I didn't sleep that well being propped up because I am normally a side sleeper but I was able to sleep on and off through the morning. Still very swollen in the chest and sore, but moving my arms gently to stretch and icing with my bags of frozen peas. I feel alright - much better than I thought I would!!! I took a shower and my hubby had to wash my hair for me, but other than that I was ok. I even brushed my hair myself and have been up and down to go to the restroom. I was slightly nauseous this morning so I've been sticking to ginger ale, water and crackers today. All in all it was a great experience and I truly happy!!! My doctor called to check on my this morning and remind me what we ended up going with since I kind of didn't remember what he told me before I left the first recovery room when he checked on me. We went 375 cc in the right and 425 cc in the left. Turned out there was a slightly bigger difference between the two than we both thought! Besides my chest being swollen, my boobs are somewhat soft so I'm just going to keep icing my chest. I guess it's back to resting for now. The kids are off with the grandparents and my hubby is out running a couple quick errands. Patience, 27 of Georgia
