FACT: A recent on-line survey revealed the profile of an average breast augmentation patient:
- She is in her 30’s. The mean age of survey respondents who had breast augmentation was 33.5 years, and recent statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons confirm that the incidence of teenage breast augmentation is extremely small and continues to decline.
- She is a mother. Sixty-four percent of respondents had children.
- She is well-educated. Forty-two percent of survey respondents had a college, graduate or professional degree. An additional 40 percent of respondents had some college education.
- She carefully considered breast augmentation. Breast augmentation patients take time to educate themselves to the risks and benefits of surgery. Sixty-eight percent of survey respondents considered the procedure for at least a year before their surgeries.
